Compartment Box
The compartment box is a lidded box with internal grid dividers. You set the overall dimensions plus the number of rows and columns, and Craft Ready Cuts generates all the panels, dividers, and lid with interlocking finger joints.
How it works
- Set width, depth, and height
- Choose how many columns and rows you want
- Craft Ready Cuts generates outer walls, base, lid, and all internal dividers
- Dividers interlock with slotted cross joints for a rigid grid
- Preview everything in 2D or 3D, then download the SVG
What you get
A fully enclosed box with a grid of compartments inside. The dividers use cross-lap joints (half-depth slots) so they lock together without glue. The outer walls and lid use standard finger joints. All panels are laid out flat on your stock sheet.
Use cases
- Parts organizers for screws, resistors, beads, or craft supplies
- Jewelry organizers with individual compartments
- Tackle boxes or fly-tying storage
- Board game token organizers
- Seed storage for gardeners
Tips
- Grid count vs. size: More compartments means smaller individual cells. Craft Ready Cuts validates that your grid fits within the overall dimensions and material thickness constraints.
- Divider height: Dividers match the box wall height. They sit on the base and the lid rests on top.
- Start small: If you're new to compartment boxes, try a 2x2 or 3x2 grid first to get a feel for assembly before going to larger grids.
